We have joined Oddvar Heggoy and Thomas Lameris at their Varanger field site. Oddvar is interested in incubation behaviour, breeding phenology, and site and partner fidelity of mainly ringed plovers. Thomasl, with his PhD-student Sofie, tries to understand ruddy turnstones. We came to help with both, used temperature-humidity loggers to gather comparative data on the diel timing of nest ends (hatching, chicks leaving and predation), as well as to fill the Arctic gap in Peter’s global dataset on escape distance.
